Taking learning outside of the classroom provides a wealth of opportunities and Year One were lucky to put their understanding of castles into practice with a trip to The Tower of London, where they even met a real life knight.
On Wednesday, our Year 1 students had the incredible opportunity to visit the historic Tower of London. They participated in a fascinating workshop with a knight, where they put into practice all the skills they had acquired over the term. The children were thrilled to see their historical learning about castles and knights come to life.
During the visit, they eagerly pointed out features such as the portcullis, arrow slits, and even the medieval toilet, known as a garderobe. These hands-on experiences allowed them to connect their classroom learning with real-world history, making the subject matter more engaging and memorable.
At The Villa School, our creative curriculum enables us to take children on such enriching trips. Our school's prime location, with London on our doorstep, provides countless opportunities for our young learners to explore and learn outside the classroom. These trips and experiences bring learning to life, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subjects they study.
Imagination and storytelling: School trips such as these spark children's imaginations, inspiring them to create stories, poems, and plays based on their experiences.
